Carnival is a celebration of music and dance held annually before Lent, usually during January and February. Lent begins exactly four weeks before Easter. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. Carnival is a time filled with local traditions so the entire region enjoys much higher than usual with traditional food, popular music and organized events. Many cities and regions worldwide celebrate this festival with nice, interesting and popular events. That is why Carnival is considered to be a GREAT FESTIVE SEASON. It eventually involves a celebration, a parade or a street party including a masque or costumed public parties in which people dress up in colourful clothes to camouflage their identity so that they can enjoy themselves all day long, taking part in dance troupes, costume parades or masked processions! It may run three days culminating in a carnival parade on fat Tuesday. In some places it may last a week attracting the participation of a large number of tourists. Parties are open air and people usually dance along the streets where free events are organised everywhere. It is great fun!
