Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452. He was considered to be one of the greatest painters of all times. In fact, he was a genius, displaying highly exceptional intellectual ability, creativity and originality.
Leonardo was Italian Renaissance polymath, a very talented person. He was a sculptor, an architect, an engineer, a mathematician, a musician, an inventor, an anatomist, a geologist, and he had a mysterious and remote personality-
He is actually best known for his lovely painting of the Mona Lisa, which is the most famous and most parodied portrait.
Leonardo used to draw sketches of special devices and he used to build some of them keeping newspapers full of small sketches. Sometimes he used to discuss about some of the pictures and shared them with collaborators. Most of the pictures showed his technological ability. He conceptualised a helicopter, a tank, concentrated solar power, a calculator, and the double hull, and he outlined a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics. Relatively few of his designs were constructed or were even feasible during his lifetime, but some of his smaller inventions, such as an automated bobbin winder and a machine for testing the tensile strength of wire, entered the world of manufacturing unheralded. He made important discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, optics, andhydrodynamics, but he did not publish his findings and they had no direct influence on later science.
