Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love.
- Leo Tolstoy
Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.
- Aristotle
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
- Pablo Neruda, "Love Sonnet XVII"
As you may know, St Valentine's Day focuses on love, romance, appreciation and friendship. People like showing feelings of love, affection, and friendship to the ones they love or adore. They use many symbols to tell them how much they appreciate them, such as hearts, roses, images and statues of cupids. Cupids’ bows and arrows symbolize the feeling of romance and love on St Valentine’s Day.
People also like giving greeting cards, chocolates, jewelry or flowers, particularly roses to their dearest friends. It is said that Cupid uses his arrow to strike the hearts of people. In mythology, that is believed to be a way to express they are in love. People who fall in love are sometimes said to be “struck by Cupid's arrow”.
